Move-and-own audio adventure game Dustland Runner, the first in the world like it, is a game that incentivises fitness, health and wellness; think of it as the runner’s version of Diablo. It sends players across a post-apocalyptic landscape in an immersive MCU-level story.
Dustland’s primary goal is to engage more people in the fitness world by building great games anchored by great storytelling.
The Dustland runs on Gear. Collect. Craft. Survive.
Gear allows you to earn more rewards, offer perks, and grant access to unique game modes — you need it to navigate the harsh terrain of Dustland.
Players complete missions, collect narrative and crafting items, earn in-game rewards and craft and upgrade your own powerful, personalised loadout. More to come soon!
To learn more about the game economy, read our previous article or listen to an AMA that will give you more details and a few story spoilers here.
Don’t just take our word for it. Get started with help from one or our existing Dustcaps, Rayhan James C. and let them help orientate you to the game!

Get started in 6 easy steps
1. Create an account
Dustland is a free-to-play game so you’re good to go as long as you download the app! Create a Dustland account in order to receive $DOSE and NFTs. Link your MetaMask wallet with your game account on www.thedustland.com

2. Check your energy
Dustcaps get 20 energy per day with which to earn rewards ($DOSE and crafting materials).
1 energy is deducted every minute.

3. Begin with Mission 1
Season 1: Mission 1 is where you start your journey.
Throughout the different missions, you’ll pick up narrative items. You will also have to unlock the distance requirements to progress through game missions.
4. Turn on your GPS
You must enable GPS on your device in order to receive your rewards. GPS must be enabled to ensure fairness for rewards distribution and that missions are completed by running — and not by other funky, unfit means.
5. Watch for crafting materials drop
Except for Mission 1, each mission has its own crafting material available to collect. The drop roll will activate for every 5 energy spent and the drop quantities are random.
The potential items are:
- Torn cloth
- Copper wire
- Metal scraps
- Rubber fragments
- Wood
- Plastic straws
- Chipz
- Floppy Disk
Some of our new players may be wondering: What’s a Floppy Disk?
Floppy Disk is the latest crafting material to become available in Dustland. They are also an NFT. They are categorised by 5 rarity levels: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary.
Common, Uncommon and Rare Floppies can be found in regular missions. All 5 can be found in Operation Ape missions! Finding a Floppy is rare, and the chance of locating a Legendary Floppy is considerably rarer than that.
The Floppy Disk is also Dustland’s third NFT collection on the Polygon chain, which is dedicated to its crafting materials. Crafting is a crucial step in upgrading your gear within the Dustland world. It’s recommended that you collect as many as you can.
6. Strategic gameplay
Once you’ve opened up and completed more missions, your brain will also be put to the test! You’ll be able to pick which mission you want to do based on what crafting materials you’d like to collect with your daily energy.
To start crafting, you’ll first require a Floppy Disk. Planning ahead and use your energy wisely!
Those are the very basics of Dustland you need to get moving. There are plenty of other tricks of the trade, and you’ll find them as you get deeper into the game and finish more missions. Like most of us, once you’ve sunk your teeth into the Dustland story, you’ll fall in love with it and you’ll want more of it — all the time. The good news on that front is there are Operation Ape side quests to tide you over. OpApe missions get you extra crafting materials, extra DOSE, exclusive prize pools, side missions, and more.
But you need an Operation Ape Pass to play. Get one here: https://bit.ly/OpenSeaApePass
That should be plenty to get you going. Good luck, and remember to have fun.
